7 Reasons why Dorset is the ideal place to own a caravan holiday home

category Holiday Home Ownership

We might be slightly biased but we think Dorset is the ideal place to own a caravan holiday home. There is so much to see and do across the county, you’ll be spoilt for choice when choosing how to fill your time. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to retreat and escape the stresses of daily life, or a base from which to explore the countryside and coast, we’re certain you’ll find everything you’re looking for, and more, at our award-winning holiday parks.

Here we list just some of the reasons we think Dorset is the best place to own a holiday home or luxury lodge.

World class scenery

Dorset offers holiday home owners the best of both worlds – stunning countryside and easy access to one of the most scenic stretches of coast in the UK. West Dorset Leisure Holidays Parks are all located in idyllic positions along the Jurassic Coast. This World Heritage Site is famed for spectacular scenery and iconic natural landmarks such as Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove.

If you venture inland, you’ll find patchwork farmland and rolling hills, affording visitors scenic walks and photo opportunities. Spend your days, on picturesque countryside walks and picnics.

Beautiful weather

Who needs holidays abroad when Dorset benefits from some of the warmest weather in the UK! Our idyllic position on the South Coast means we’re treated to mild temperatures throughout much of the season. As a holiday home owner, you’ll have the flexibility to come and go as you please. If a heat wave is on the cards, simply pack up the car and head to the coast to make the most of the beautiful weather! What could possibly be better than sitting on the veranda of your home away from home with a glass of wine in hand?!

If the weather does take a turn for the worse there’s no need to worry, our modern holiday homes are built to the highest standards with insulation and heating for your comfort. Stay warm and cosy in front of the TV or take the opportunity to enjoy a bracing walk outside. We think there’s something quite special about our stretch of coastline on a cold and crisp day.

Award-winning attractions

There are also a number of picturesque gardens, historical attractions and animal parks to visit.

Delicious food and drink

Over the years Dorset has earned a reputation for excellent food and drink. It is widely considered one of the best foodie hubs in the country and boasts a number of award-winning restaurants and eateries.

Our enviable location close to the countryside and coast creates the ideal conditions for crops and livestock to flourish. As a result, there are a wide selection of artisan makers serving some of the best produce around. For a taste of this 5-star fare, head to one of the bustling farmers markets. Here you’ll be able to sample a variety of meats and cheeses as well as spectacular locally caught seafood.

Dorset is such a convenient place to own a lodge or caravan holiday home. Our award-winning holiday parks are located within easy reach of a number of major towns and cities, meaning you can reach your holiday home in just a couple of hours by car, depending on where you’re based. The journey from London takes a little over 3 hours, which is perfectly doable after a busy week at work. The commute from Bristol is less than 2 hours.

Inspiring artists

The spectacular landscape along the Jurassic Coast has inspired writers and musicians for generations. And it’s not difficult to see why. A vibrant arts scene has emerged, boasting a friendly community and lots of galleries, studios and workshops dotted across the county. If you’re feeling crafty, you could sign up to one of the many arts classes on offer. Or simply treat yourself to some Dorset artwork to adorn the walls of your holiday home. There are also plenty of music and theatre venues nearby, if you’d fancy watching some live performances during your stay.

Exciting events

Dorset plays host to a wide range of events – offering fun-filled days out from your holiday home or lodge. The jam-packed events programme means you’ll never be short of things to see or do. It provides the perfect excuse to travel to places you may not otherwise visit.

There are plenty of food and drink festivals taking place throughout the year. As well as music festivals, art exhibitions and family fun days and sporting events. Some have gone on to earn international acclaim, with Bournemouth Air Show, Dorset Seafood Festival, Camp Bestival, Great Dorset Steam Fair and Tank Fest attracting visitors from all over the world.

We also have some weird and wonderful events taking place across the county. These are perfect if you’re looking for something a bit different. Bridport Hat Festival is a great fun event as is the Purbeck Pirate Festival. The whacky World Nettle Eating Championship and Bridport Torchlight Festival are not to be missed.
