category Holiday Home Ownership

If you love Dorset and enjoy taking regular holidays, then holiday home ownership could be perfect for you. To ensure you never tire of visiting the same place, you need a fantastic location that ticks all the boxes and offers variety throughout the season.

Here are 3 of our favourite holiday home locations in Dorset. Once you’ve read about them, we’re sure you’ll agree we’ve made the right choices!

Seatown

Situated between some of the highest clifftops on the south coast of England, Seatown is a peaceful little village right on the Jurassic Coast next to the beach. Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), this is the perfect spot to sit and watch the world go by.

Seatown Beach, popular for fishing, walking and sunbathing, has beautiful views across Lyme Bay towards Lyme Regis and beyond. Right next to the beach is the Anchor Inn, recognised as one of the best pubs in the UK and part of the local Palmer’s Brewery – the oldest thatched brewery in the country.

The coast path winds right past the pub and the rolling hills cover 2,000 acres of National Trust land and footpaths, perfect for exploring. The clifftop peak of Golden Cap offers one of the best panoramic views in the county, with views over 99 miles of coastline on a clear day.

Situated just 150 yards from Seatown Beach and next to the River Winniford, is Golden Cap Holiday Park, part of the family-run West Dorset Leisure Holidays – a group of 5 parks. As well as offering lodges, caravans and glamping accommodation for holidays, 4 areas of the park are reserved exclusively for holiday home ownership in a caravan or lodge. Facilities include a park shop, fishing lake, children’s play area, dog exercising meadow and nature trail.

The majority of holiday homes enjoy a 9 month season and a 15 year licence. If you are looking for a little more luxury, then check out the new South Alberlon development of more spacious and top-of-the-range holiday homes with a 20 year licence.

The park is located just 1 mile from the A35 main road from Bournemouth to Exeter, 3 miles from the market town of Bridport and 7 miles from the popular resort of Lyme Regis.

Purbeck

The peninsula of the Isle of Purbeck is located in the south eastern area of Dorset and is home to some of the best coastal landmarks in the county. Inland, you will find nature reserves, rivers, heathland, woodland and meadows to explore and on the coast you will find well-known locations like Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Old Harry Rocks.

There is such a variety of places to visit, events to attend and places to eat and drink here, that you will never tire of the area or be stuck for something to do. It’s therefore one of the most popular areas for people who are looking for holiday home locations in Dorset

As well as having some of the best natural landmarks and coastal features in the county, such as the fossil-rich Kimmeridge Bay and the sweeping sands of Studland Bay, Purbeck is home to some of the best attractions in Dorset, such as Corfe Castle, Swanage Railway, The Tank Museum, Monkey World and The Etches Collection, to name a few.

Situated in the middle of all this, is Sandyholme Holiday Park – a small park with friendly wardens and a relaxing atmosphere. The park is surrounded by countryside, trails, lanes and streams, ideal for exploring on foot or bicycle. The coast at Ringstead Bay and Osmington, is just a 5 mile drive away, as are the county town of Dorchester with its museums, retail and leisure facilities and the seaside resort of Weymouth with its family visitor attractions, harbour and sandy beach.

The park has a range of new and pre-owned caravan holiday homes for sale at an affordable price and with a 9 month season and 15 year licence. On the park, you will find a park reception, with small shop, a picnic area, a wildlife lake, a children’s play area and a laundry room.

Burton Bradstock

Described by The Telegraph as the ‘Gateway to good food, scenic walks and unspoiled beaches,’ Burton Bradstock is a charming and traditional village with a ‘step-back-in-time’ feel to it. Just a couple of miles from the market town of Bridport and the more well-known fishing village of West Bay, Burton is home to 16th and 17th Century thatched cottages, long-established village pubs, a village green and one of the best beaches in the county.

The village, is situated by the coast, near the mouth of the River Bride, which flows for more than 10 miles through the beautiful Bride Valley. Regular visitors to Burton Bradstock enjoy the riverside walks, local ales, picturesque countryside and the golden cliffs of Hive Beach.

West Dorset Leisure Holidays own 2 holiday parks in the village – Graston Copse and Larkfield. Graston Copse can be found just 1 mile inland from the village, flanked by the River Bride on one side and farmer’s fields on the others. The small park is home to a riverside and woodland walk and welcomes both holidaymakers for touring and camping, as well as holiday home owners. This is a truly peaceful retreat and a great place to get close to nature, with the park being a long-running gold winner in the David Bellamy Award Scheme.
